Honor plans to officially launch its Robot Phone in Q3 2026, as the company followed up the mobile device’s unveiling at MWC26 Barcelona with a showcase at the 79th Cannes Film Festival.

After first teasing the device in Barcelona in March, Honor announced it is gearing up to rollout the smartphone later this year, although pricing and launch markets were not revealed.

Honor said it showcased “the future of mobile imaging” at the Film Festival, serving as the official partner for a dedicated China Night at the event.

It claims the innovative device garnered praise from world renowned filmmakers, actors and celebrities “for its ability to deliver complex, stabilised tracking shots” through a compact and intelligent form factor.

The company added it has teamed up with camera technology specialist Arri as part of a push around the device’s cinematic storytelling capabilities.

First presented at MWC26 this year, the Robot Phone has a 4DoF gimbal system “delivering robot-grade motion control”, The system can interact with the user through gestures like expressive nods and head shakes, capture stabilised camera footage through motion tracking, identify sounds and even dance to music.

During the event in Barcelona, Honor also showed off a humanoid robot, as part of a strategy to embed AI across its devices.
