ADEN — The Yemeni government commended Saudi Arabia’s decision to provide urgent support for petroleum derivatives worth $150 million to cover the operating needs of power plants in Yemen through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen.

Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, affirmed that the new Saudi support for his country once again embodies its honorable position, under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to stand with Yemen, its people, and its political leadership during exceptional circumstances.

Al-Alimi expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation to the Kingdom, its leadership, government, and people, for the new grant of petroleum derivatives allocated to operate power plants and alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.

The Yemeni government affirmed, in a statement carried by the official Yemen news agency Saba, that this support embodies the depth of the historical relations and shared destiny between the two countries and reflects the Saudi leadership’s keenness to support the Yemeni people and alleviate their humanitarian and economic suffering during these exceptional circumstances facing Yemen.

The Yemeni statement also commended the vital role played by the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen in implementing strategic, service, and development projects across various sectors, representing an effective model of fraternal and sustainable development partnership. Saudi Arabia has provided $150 million in urgent support in the form of petroleum derivatives to cover the diesel and fuel oil needs of power plants across Yemen’s governorates.
