Watch: Heavy rains revive RAK mountains as waterfalls, valleys gush, temperatures dip

Spectacular scenes have emerged from Ras Al Khaimah after recent rainfall turned its rugged mountains and wadis into a striking display of flowing water and renewed life.

A video posted by the Ras Al Khaimah Media Office captures waterfalls cascading down rocky slopes and streams rushing through valleys, transforming the emirate’s usually dry terrain into a vibrant natural landscape.

Birds can be seen gliding across the skyline, while camels stand nearby, seemingly at ease amid the refreshed surroundings.

Water surges through the wadis, carving paths across the mountains and creating dramatic waterfalls that pour into the valleys below.

In Wadi Diftah, the aftermath of the rain paints a particularly picturesque scene, with the steady sound of flowing water adding a sense of calm and tranquility.

The scenes follow days of unsettled weather across the United Arab Emirates, where widespread rainfall swept through multiple regions. From the western parts of the country to the northern emirates, rain fell in waves over nearly a week, bringing cooler temperatures, thunderstorms, and rough sea conditions.

Earlier, on March 25, Wadi Al Naqab, a popular destination known for its hiking trails and limestone cliffs, was transformed into a powerful flow of water after heavy rains caused the valley to gush. Similar scenes were recorded in Fujairah, where wadis in Souq Al Jumea overflowed due to a low-pressure weather system affecting the region.

While rainfall totals in some areas have been comparable to what the UAE typically receives over two years, experts note that this weather system differs significantly from the record-breaking storm of April 2024. Instead of intense rainfall over a short period, the recent showers were spread out over several days, reducing the overall impact on the ground.

Conditions are expected to stabilise, with skies forecast to be fair to partly cloudy at times, according to the National Center of Meteorology. Humidity levels are likely to rise overnight and into Friday morning, with a chance of fog or mist forming over some coastal and inland areas.

Temperatures across the UAE are set to remain mild following the recent spell of rain, with daytime highs in the mid-to-high 20s and cooler nights in the high teens in major cities, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. Overall, temperatures across the country are expected to range between 13ºC and 32ºC.
