WASHINGTON — US President Donald Trump said Sunday that the United States has rescued a “seriously wounded, and really brave” F-15 crew member from deep inside Iran, describing the mission as one of the most daring search and rescue operations in US history.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the rescued officer was a “highly respected Colonel,” adding that such operations are rarely attempted due to the risks involved.

“The second raid came after the first one, where we rescued the pilot in broad daylight, also unusual, spending seven hours over Iran. An AMAZING show of bravery and talent by all!” he said.

Trump noted that the officer sustained injuries but said he “will be just fine.”

He added that the mission followed the earlier rescue of another US pilot on Friday, which had not been publicly disclosed at the time to avoid compromising the second operation.

The president said he would hold a news conference with military officials at the Oval Office on Monday at 1:00 p.m. to provide further details.
