    Saudi PPI rises 8.5% in June as manufacturing prices climb 9%

    RIYADH — Saudi Arabia’s Producer Price Index (PPI) increased 8.5 percent in June 2026 compared with the same month last year, driven by higher manufacturing prices, according to the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT).

    Manufacturing prices rose 9 percent year-on-year, driven by a 14.4 percent increase in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products, a 14.3 percent rise in wearing apparel, and a 13.2 percent increase in refined petroleum products.

    Prices for the manufacture of basic metals increased 8.4 percent annually, while food products rose 4.6 percent.

    Elsewhere, prices for water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities increased 7.9 percent year-on-year, while electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply prices rose 2.4 percent.

    In contrast, prices for the manufacture of fabricated metal products, excluding machinery and equipment, declined 3.5 percent annually. Other economic activities also fell 3.5 percent, while the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products declined 2.1 percent.

    On a monthly basis, the PPI increased 0.6 percent in June compared with May 2026, driven mainly by a 0.6 percent rise in manufacturing prices.

    Within manufacturing, prices for other economic activities increased 2.2 percent month-on-month, refined petroleum products rose 1.8 percent, food products increased 1.3 percent, and fabricated metal products, excluding machinery and equipment, edged up 0.1 percent.

    Meanwhile, prices for the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products declined 1 percent from the previous month, while basic metals fell 0.5 percent.

    Electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply prices decreased 0.1 percent, while water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities remained unchanged.
