KUALA LUMPUR — Saudi Arabia officially inaugurated its pavilion as Guest of Honor at the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair 2026, showcasing the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage and contemporary creative achievements through a diverse program of literary, artistic and cultural events.

The participation is led by the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission, one of the cultural commissions operating under the Ministry of Culture.

Running from May 29 to June 7 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, the fair features an integrated Saudi cultural program that includes panel discussions, poetry evenings and appearances by Saudi writers and intellectuals, alongside live performances of traditional Saudi arts inside and outside the exhibition venue.

The pavilion highlights the diversity of Saudi culture through a manuscripts exhibition featuring historically significant Saudi works, a dedicated section for Saudi publications and a heritage display showcasing replicas of key archaeological artifacts from across the Kingdom.

Visitors can also explore traditional Saudi handicrafts through live artisan demonstrations, discover traditional musical instruments and view displays of regional Saudi attire for men and women.

A dedicated film corner presents excerpts from notable Saudi productions, while the traditional Saudi Majlis offers visitors an authentic experience of Saudi hospitality and heritage. The Majlis is recognized on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List.

Chief Executive Officer of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission Abdullatif Abdulaziz Al Wasel said Saudi Arabia’s selection as Guest of Honor at one of Asia’s leading cultural events reflects the strong cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and Malaysia.

Al Wasel said the participation provides a valuable opportunity to introduce Malaysian and Asian audiences to the depth and diversity of Saudi culture while strengthening cultural exchange and collaboration.
