MADRID — Spanish police said on Tuesday they arrested a 25-year-old man who allegedly killed ‌his parents and injured four others, including his seven-month-old son, in a shooting overnight in the southern city of El Ejido, near Almería.

The four injured were hospitalized and in a serious condition, the Guardia Civil force said in a statement. As well as the suspect’s son, the injured included a man, a woman and another minor.

Authorities said the shooting was reported at 23:00 local time (22:00 BST) on Monday.

The identities of the suspect and the victims have not been formally released by Spanish authorities.

Local media say the other child injured is an 18-month-old baby, while a 60-year-old man is also believed to be among those injured in the attack.

The suspect was briefly on the run before turning himself in at a local police station, according to Europa Press.

Guardia Civil said it is investigating the attack and trying to establish a possible motive for the shooting.
