MANAMA — Bahrain on Monday summoned the chargé d’affaires of the Iraqi Embassy over the continued drone attacks launched from Iraqi territory targeting the kingdom and other Gulf states.

In a statement, Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the “continued malicious drone attacks,” according to Bahrain News Agency.

The ministry said Sheikh Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalifa, director general of bilateral relations, delivered an official protest note during a meeting with Iraqi diplomat Ahmed Ismail al-Karawi.

He stressed the need for Iraq to address the threats “urgently and responsibly” in line with regional and international law.

Bahrain also reaffirmed its right to take “all necessary measures” to protect its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens and residents.

The developments come a day after US and Iranian delegations concluded 21 hours of talks in Islamabad without reaching an agreement.
