SEOUL, 23rd August, 2026 (WAM) — A Korean container ship set sail for Europe via the Arctic on Saturday in the country’s first commercial voyage of its kind along the route, aimed at testing its commercial viability.

The voyage is expected to take around 45 days in total, with the vessel scheduled to call at Felixstowe in the United Kingdom, Rotterdam in the Netherlands and Gdansk in Poland before returning to Korea.

The Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries said the “PanStar Acro” departed from the southeastern port city of Busan and is scheduled to enter the Northern Sea Route around 30th August and pass through Arctic waters around 7th September.

The vessel is scheduled to call at the Port of Felixstowe in the United Kingdom on 9th September, Rotterdam in the Netherlands on 11th September and Gdansk in Poland on 15th September, before returning to Busan on 5th October.

The entire voyage is expected to take around 45 days, with the sailing distance through Arctic waters estimated at approximately 6,400 kilometres.
