JEDDAH — Al Ahli have appointed Marino Pusic as their new head coach, confirming the former Shakhtar Donetsk manager as the successor to Matthias Jaissle.
The Roshn Saudi League club announced Thursday that the 54-year-old has signed a contract through 2028 after leaving UAE Pro League side Al Jazira.
Pusic arrives with a proven record of success, having guided Shakhtar Donetsk to the Ukrainian Premier League title in 2024. Before that, he helped FC Twente secure promotion to the Eredivisie in 2019 and served as Feyenoord’s assistant coach during the club’s 2022-23 Dutch league-winning campaign.
He replaces Jaissle, who led Al Ahli to back-to-back AFC Champions League Elite titles before departing to take charge of English Premier League club Newcastle United.
Pusic’s first competitive match in charge will come on Aug. 13 when Al Ahli begin their 2026-27 Roshn Saudi League campaign away to newly promoted Diriyah Club.
