JEDDAH — Thundery rain showers are forecast to persist across several regions of Saudi Arabia through the end of the week, according to the National Center for Meteorology (NCM).

The forecast is based on the Saudi Numerical Model displayed in an animated weather map released by the NCM.

According to the map, light to moderate rain is expected to affect southern parts of Jazan and Asir from late Sunday afternoon until the evening.

No rainfall is forecast overnight, although light showers are expected near Najran city on Monday morning.

By Monday afternoon, light showers will return to southern Najran and gradually spread across the southern parts of the region, continuing into the early hours of Tuesday.

Late Tuesday afternoon, moderate rainfall is forecast over Taif and surrounding areas in Makkah region, as well as northwestern parts of Asir, before rain temporarily disappears from the Kingdom.

Rain will return on Wednesday afternoon, with moderate showers forecast over northwestern Asir and light rainfall expected in southern Jazan.

Dry conditions are then expected to prevail until Thursday afternoon, when light showers are forecast to redevelop over southern Najran.

By Friday afternoon, moderate to heavy rain is expected to spread across southwestern Saudi Arabia, extending from Jazan through Asir and into parts of Makkah region.

The rainfall is forecast to gradually weaken into light showers before ending later in the evening.

A similar weather pattern is expected on Saturday afternoon, with moderate to heavy rain returning to the same areas before gradually dissipating by late evening.
