ISTANBUL — A Saudi man drowned in Türkiye’s Trabzon province after being swept away by the current in the Uzungöl area. His body was transferred to Istanbul ahead of its repatriation to Saudi Arabia.

The man died after falling into the water in the Uzungöl area of Trabzon province in northern Türkiye, where he was swept away by the current.

The body was transported from Trabzon to Istanbul and is scheduled to be flown to the Kingdom on Thursday after the necessary procedures were completed in coordination between the Saudi Embassy in Türkiye and the relevant Turkish authorities, local media reported.

The Saudi Embassy said it began following the incident immediately after receiving notification and has been coordinating with Turkish authorities to complete the required procedures while providing assistance and support to the deceased’s family.

The embassy continues to oversee arrangements for the repatriation of the body to the Kingdom.
