KUWAIT CITY — A power generation and water desalination plant in Kuwait came under a second Iranian attack in two days on Sunday, sparking a fire and damaging multiple electricity generation units, Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said.
The ministry said the attack triggered emergency response plans as authorities moved to contain the fire and safeguard the stability of the national electricity grid.
Kuwait Fire Force teams quickly brought the blaze under control, while the ministry’s technical and emergency crews, working in coordination with security authorities, began assessing the damage and implementing precautionary measures to restore the affected generation units as quickly as possible.
The ministry said its technical teams are continuing to work around the clock to maintain the stability of the electricity network and ensure uninterrupted power supplies while closely monitoring the grid.
It added that it is coordinating with the relevant authorities and will provide updates through its official communication channels as the situation develops.
The ministry also urged citizens and residents to cooperate during the current exceptional circumstances by reducing electricity consumption to help maintain the stability of the national power system.
