RIYADH — Australian coach Ange Postecoglou has officially begun his tenure as Al Nassr head coach after arriving in Riyadh and signing his contract, with the club unveiling the former Tottenham Hotspur and Celtic manager as the leader of its first-team project for the new season.

Postecoglou completed the formalities at Al Nassr’s headquarters, where he signed the contract alongside sporting director Simao Coutinho, marking the start of a new chapter for one of the Saudi Pro League’s most ambitious clubs.

Speaking in his first official interview after the signing ceremony, Postecoglou said Al Nassr’s sporting vision and the growing stature of Saudi football were decisive factors behind his move.

“Coming to Riyadh and starting this project is an exciting challenge in my career,” Postecoglou said.

“Al Nassr is more than just a football club. It is a historic institution with an exceptional fan base, and my goal is to build a team that reflects that greatness on the pitch.”

The Australian added that he has arrived with clear objectives.

“I came here to win trophies,” he said. “The Saudi Pro League has become a global competition, and we have the players and the resources to put Al Nassr on top both domestically and in Asia. The work starts immediately to turn those ambitions into reality.”

Sporting director Simao Coutinho said the appointment followed an extensive selection process, with the club prioritizing a coach capable of delivering a clear football identity while managing a squad filled with high-profile talent.

“Ange possesses the leadership qualities and football philosophy we were looking for,” Coutinho said. “We believe he is the right coach to lead this team into its next phase.”

Postecoglou arrives in Riyadh with an attacking reputation forged during successful spells at Celtic and in the Premier League with Tottenham, as Al Nassr look to challenge for major honors in the upcoming campaign.
