RIYADH — The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) has foiled an attempt to smuggle 208,836 amphetamine pills into Saudi Arabia through Al Hadithah border crossing.

ZATCA spokesperson Hamoud Al-Harbi said the narcotics were discovered during customs inspection of a truck entering the Kingdom after officers used advanced security screening technologies and detector dogs.

The amphetamine pills were concealed inside a shipment of agal cords, he said.

Following the seizure, ZATCA coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, leading to the arrest of two individuals who were awaiting the shipment inside the Kingdom.

Al-Harbi said ZATCA remains committed to strengthening customs controls at all land, sea, and air ports to prevent smuggling attempts and protect society, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the General Directorate of Narcotics Control.

He also urged the public to report smuggling-related crimes and violations of the Unified Customs Law through ZATCA’s dedicated security hotline (1910), international number (+966 1910), or email at [email protected]. He said all reports are treated confidentially and financial rewards are offered for verified information.
