JEDDAH—Saudi Arabia has provided $150 million in urgent support in the form of petroleum derivatives to cover the diesel and fuel oil needs of power plants across Yemen’s governorates.

This initiative comes as an extension of Saudi Arabia’s support for the Yemeni people in line with the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, and the follow-up of Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman.

The support, channeled through the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen, aims to bolster the stability of the electricity grid, improve the continuity of essential services, and alleviate the suffering of Yemenis, thereby enhancing vital services and supporting economic and development activities.

For his part, Mohammed Al-Jaber, Saudi Ambassador to Yemen and General Supervisor of the Program, said that this support is a continuation of the Kingdom’s unwavering commitment to supporting the Yemeni people and alleviating their humanitarian suffering, particularly in light of the rising temperatures.

In a post on his account on the X social media platform, Al-Jaber said that this support contributes to the stability of electricity services and supports related commercial and service activities, and enhances the foundations of development and stability in Yemen.
