MAKKAH — Rapid intervention of medical teams from the Makkah Health Cluster has been instrumental in saving the lives of four Hajj pilgrims after suffering from acute heart attacks. The pilgrims in their sixties and seventies were from Algeria, Malaysia, and Syria, and the fourth pilgrim was a doctor from Iraq.

The swift response of the medical teams within the Saudi Model of Care’s Urgent Care track stabilized the three patients, who required immediate medical intervention, in record time, meeting international recommendations for emergency cardiac care. The integrated services across the Makkah Health Cluster facilitated the rapid transfer of the patients to Makkah hospitals, where they received specialized cardiac catheterization and complex interventions.

Meanwhile, the Cardiac Center at King Abdullah Medical City, a member of the Makkah Health Cluster, saved the life of an Iraqi pilgrim, who is a neurologist, by performing an urgent cardiac catheterization following a severe heart attack.

Medical staff confirmed that the procedure restored blood flow without any complications, allowing the pilgrim to be discharged in good health. To enhance the quality of his post-operative care, his medical follow-up continues remotely via smartwatch technology to continuously monitor his vital signs.

The pilgrim doctor expressed his deep gratitude for the swift response, advanced capabilities, and compassionate medical expertise he received. He praised the high-quality care that stabilized his condition and thanked the Kingdom and its wise leadership for the exceptional services provided to pilgrims.
