TASHKENT — Assistant Speaker of the Saudi Shoura Council Dr. Hanan Al-Ahmadi is leading the council’s delegation at the second Asian Women’s Forum currently being held in Uzbekistan under the theme “Investing in Women – The Foundation of Sustainable Growth.”

The forum brings together parliamentary and government delegations, women leaders, international organizations, representatives from UN Women, the United Nations Population Fund, and diplomatic missions from across Asia and beyond.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomed participants in a speech delivered on his behalf by Head of the Presidential Administration Saida Mirziyoyeva.

In the address, the Uzbek president praised the pivotal role of Asian women and stressed that women across the continent possess enormous potential and unique talents, describing them as a cornerstone in building stable and prosperous societies.

He said the forum serves as a historic platform for exchanging expertise, coordinating efforts to protect women’s rights, and advancing women’s empowerment in education and innovation.

Discussions at the forum focus on key themes including economic empowerment, education and innovation, social protection, the role of women in addressing climate change and environmental protection, and enhancing women’s access to education, innovation and digital technology.

The event also features side meetings aimed at strengthening parliamentary cooperation and exchanging expertise on issues related to women’s advancement.

The Saudi Shoura Council delegation includes Shoura Council members Dr. Latifa Al-Abdulkareem and Dr. Ghada Al-Hathli.
