RIYADH — Saudi Arabia strongly condemned a terrorist plot targeting the unity and stability of the United Arab Emirates and praised Emirati security authorities for dismantling the cell, arresting its members and thwarting its criminal plans.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia reaffirmed the Kingdom’s full solidarity with the UAE and its support for all measures taken to safeguard security and stability and combat extremism and terrorism in all forms.

“The Kingdom confirms its full solidarity with the sisterly United Arab Emirates and supports the measures it is taking to achieve security and stability and fight extremism and terrorism in all its forms,” the ministry said.

Earlier Monday, the UAE announced it had dismantled a terrorist organization linked to Iran that planned to undermine state security and harm national unity.

According to Emirates News Agency, the UAE State Security Service said the 27-member group was involved in covert activities aimed at destabilizing the country through planned terrorist and sabotage operations.

Authorities said investigations found the group was connected to Iran’s Wilayat al-Faqih doctrine.

The agency added that members of the organization had adopted extremist ideologies threatening internal security and carried out recruitment efforts through secret meetings coordinated with external actors in an attempt to gain access to sensitive sites.
