    Saudi Arabia forecasts heavy rain until Tuesday, Civil Defense issues alert

    RIYADH — The National Center for Meteorology has forecast moderate to heavy rainfall across most regions of Saudi Arabia starting Friday and continuing through Tuesday.

    Affected areas include Asir, Jazan, Najran, Al-Baha, Makkah, Riyadh, the Eastern Province, Qassim, and the Northern Borders.

    The center urged the public to follow official weather updates and alerts through its website, social media platforms, and the Anwaa app.

    The General Directorate of Civil Defense also called on residents to exercise caution, remain in safe locations, avoid flood-prone areas and valleys, and refrain from swimming in them.

    According to the forecast, Makkah region will experience moderate to heavy rainfall that may lead to flash floods, hail, and strong downdraft winds causing dust and reduced visibility, affecting areas including Turbah, Al-Moya, Al-Khurmah, Ranyah, Taif, Maysan, Adham, Al-Ardiyat, and lighter rainfall in Al-Laith, Al-Qunfudhah, Makkah city, Al-Jumum, Bahrah, and Al-Kamil.

    Riyadh region is also expected to see moderate to heavy rainfall with similar weather conditions, impacting Wadi Al-Dawasir, Al-Sulayyil, Al-Aflaj, Riyadh city, Al-Dilam, Al-Muzahimiyah, Dhurma, Al-Qiddiya, Diriyah, Hotat Bani Tamim, Al-Hariq, Al-Kharj, Marat, Afif, Al-Dawadmi, Al-Quwayiyah, and Al-Rayn, with lighter rainfall in Rumah, Shaqra, Al-Majma’ah, Al-Zulfi, Al-Ghat, and Thadiq.

    Moderate to heavy rain is also expected in Asir, Jazan, Najran, Al-Baha, and the Eastern Province, while lighter rainfall is forecast for Qassim, the Northern Borders, and Madinah.

    Authorities stressed the importance of adhering to safety instructions and avoiding risky areas during the weather conditions.
