ISLAMABAD — Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, describing it as “heinous” and reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.

In a statement, Sharif denounced the attack, which killed 12 people and injured 309 others, according to Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA).

“I strongly condemn the heinous attack carried out by the Houthis militia on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh,” Sharif said, warning that attacks targeting civilians and vital infrastructure were unacceptable and posed a serious threat to regional peace and stability. He also called for an immediate end to such violence.

The prime minister extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the prompt and complete recovery of those injured.

“Attacks targeting civilians and vital infrastructure are utterly unacceptable and pose a serious threat to regional peace and stability,” he said.

“These violent acts, which constitute a flagrant violation of international law, must cease immediately.”

The Pakistani prime minister also reaffirmed his country’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia, citing the Makkah Al-Mukarramah Joint Defense Agreement and the longstanding ties between the two countries.

“Pakistan stands firmly and with steadfast solidarity alongside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its leadership, and its brotherly people,” Sharif said.

The fatalities included four Saudi citizens, two Bangladeshis and one national each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.
