RIYADH — The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has mandated that barbers hold valid health certificates, maintain personal hygiene, and observe proper health practices before and during the provision of services. The ministry emphasized that offering home barbering services outside a licensed establishment requires a specific permit.

The ministry stressed that men’s barber shops must clean, disinfect, and sterilize reusable tools after each use, while single-use tools must be disposed of immediately after use. Establishments are also required to regularly clean and sterilize all equipment and maintain the cleanliness of service areas.

The ministry explained that these stringent requirements aim to protect customers’ health, enhance the quality of services, promote sound health practices within establishments, and regulate business operations. They also provide clear guidelines to help investors and business owners establish and operate their businesses in accordance with approved standards, thereby fostering a better business environment and improving the quality of services offered to customers.

The ministry further noted that raising awareness of these requirements and clarifying how they should be implemented form part of its approach to encouraging compliance before penalties are imposed. This approach seeks to help business owners meet their obligations and ensure that adherence to health standards becomes an integral and consistent practice in their daily operations.
