RIYADH — The General Directorate of Civil Defense emphasized the importance of installing gas leak detectors in homes to prevent sudden fires, minimize risks, and protect lives and property.

The directorate stressed the need to follow safety procedures when a gas leak is suspected, including avoiding the use of electrical switches or any source that could cause ignition, tightly closing the gas valve, ventilating the area by calmly opening windows and doors, and evacuating the premises.

It urged the public to adhere to safety guidelines and instructions disseminated through various media outlets and social media platforms. In emergencies, the public should contact 911 in the regions of Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern Province and 998 in the rest of the Kingdom.
